Cloud Connectivity

What is cloud connectivity?

Cloud connectivity enables secure and efficient data communications between devices and systems across cloud services and infrastructure. The technology smoothly integrates local infrastructure and cloud environments, which helps improve scalability, flexibility, and real-time collaboration.

Cloud connectivity is an essential component for today’s digital operations because it makes internet-based delivery of applications and storage services possible, while also maintaining performance, security, and compliance standards

How does cloud connectivity work?

Cloud connectivity enables secure communication between on-premises infrastructure, remote devices, and cloud-based services through reliable connections. Both the internet and dedicated network connections allow data to move seamlessly between different environments. A device or system starts the process by sending a request to use cloud resources, such as storage applications or computing power—which is hosted by a cloud service provider.

The connection to cloud services happens in several ways, through 1) virtual private networks (VPNs), 2) dedicated private links such as Wasabi Direct Connect, or 3) the public internet. The connections are typically protected through encryption, which helps protect data during transit.

The cloud environment requires Role Based Access Control (RBAC) to determine which users or systems can access resources because it controls authorization for cloud interactions.

Cloud connectivity enables users and systems to link with and use cloud resources—which leads to an architecture that is scalable and highly available. The system provides resource accessibility from any location with network access.

Benefits of cloud connectivity

Cloud connectivity provides organizations with a range of advantages:

  • Simplified management: Organizations can monitor IT resources from a central location and automate many system configurations—providing greater visibility and reducing complexity.

  • Enhanced security: Cloud providers offer multiple robust security measures, including encryption, access controls, threat detection, compliance frameworks, and automated threat alerts across all environments.

  • Consistency across distributed systems: Connecting cloud resources and on-premises environments can standardize protocols and make the entire infrastructure more predictable and manageable.

  • Improved collaboration: Teams can easily share data for better collaboration, regardless of their location.

Connecting to Wasabi

  • Wasabi Direct Connect: A dedicated, private connection to one of our storage facilities for the most secure access to your hot cloud storage.

  • Wasabi-hosted direct connect: A hosted connection made through your existing connection to our preferred cloud fabric partners.

  • Wasabi Interconnect: Wasabi Interconnect leverages network providers to connect alternative data center locations to Wasabi more easily.
