VIDEO SURVEILLANCE
Panasonic Information Systems, Panasonic Net Solutions, and Wasabi Partner on Secure, Long-Term Cloud Storage for Video Surveillance in Japan
Traceability is an important feature and a growing need for the manufacturing industry. It helps track procurement, manufacturing, distribution, and sales processes in order to quickly find the cause of problems when they occur and recall products if necessary.
Manufacturers are ensuring traceability by installing surveillance cameras on the production line and keeping video footage until the product's warranty expiration date. This is used for manufacturing in all types of industries, including food products and those with long quality assurance periods, like automobiles and semiconductors. Furthermore, with the recent increase in the number of incidents involving health hazards, foreign material contamination, and unauthorized manufacturing, there is an increasing need for long-term recording to demonstrate safety to consumers and retailers.
However, the recording period of conventional surveillance cameras is generally up to one year, and the data is stored in-house at an additional cost. It is possible to build a video surveillance system with a retention period of more than one year by using forms of data storage like LTO tapes, but this has the disadvantage of not being able to remotely view video from other locations as is possible with cloud surveillance cameras.
In order to allow organizations to cost-effectively and securely store video surveillance footage in the cloud, Panasonic Information Systems and Panasonic Net Solutions, have partnered with Wasabi on a video surveillance solution that can provide long-term recording.
Long-term recording for cloud surveillance cameras with low-cost, high-quality, and secure cloud storage
While conventional surveillance cameras generally record for up to one year, the new solution from Panasonic Information Systems, Panasonic Net Solutions, and Wasabi can record for longer. This is made possible by the combination of ArgosView, which specializes in centralized remote monitoring, and Wasabi cloud storage, which charges by capacity and does not incur data transfer fees. Users can restore video data in the cloud at any time without having to worry about the hassle and cost of in-house storage, and without having to pay for downloading. Additionally, Wasabi security features include 11-nines of object durability and an object lock function for easy ransomware protection, providing an inexpensive, secure, and hassle-free storage environment for ArgosView's video data.
In addition to our partnership with Panasonic Information Systems and Panasonic Net Solutions, organizations with surveillance footage data storage needs around the world can use Wasabi Surveillance Cloud, a first-of-its-kind solution that enables users to offload video surveillance footage from their local storage environment directly to the cloud without ever running out of capacity. This ‘bottomless’ approach to video storage is vital for the surveillance industry that is currently struggling to manage enormous amounts of video in high resolution environments, increasingly large file sizes, stringent regulatory and retention requirements, and business and analytics applications tied to surveillance. Wasabi Surveillance Cloud creates a seamless hybrid storage environment that preserves current on-site technology investments and maximizes their ROI without sacrificing any of the benefits.
I look forward to continuing our successful partnership with Panasonic Information Systems and Panasonic Net Solutions for organizations in Japan to securely and cost-effectively store their video surveillance footage in the cloud.
