Why Wasabi Built a ConnectWise PSA Integration and What It Means for MSP Partners

If you've spent any time talking to MSPs about their priorities, a few themes come up consistently: operational efficiency, scalability, and getting more out of the tools they already use.

Wasabi's new integration between Account Control Manager (WACM) and ConnectWise PSA is a direct response to that. Nobody is better positioned to explain why it was built and what it actually does than Soumil Vora, Wasabi's Director of Partner Product Management. Soumil works closely with MSP partners and sits at the intersection of product strategy and channel, which means he has a clear view of where the biggest opportunities are.

I sat down with him to get into the specifics.

What drove the decision to build an integration with ConnectWise PSA?

The decision was primarily driven by direct customer and partner feedback gathered through partner advisory board sessions, marketing surveys, and ongoing engagement with MSPs. Additionally, ConnectWise PSA has a significant presence in the MSP ecosystem, with approximately 25% market share, over 20,000 MSPs actively using the platform, and more than 45,000 partners and customers overall. Integrating with such a widely adopted platform allows us to better align with how MSPs already operate.

What specific challenges does this integration solve for MSPs?

The integration addresses several operational and financial challenges MSPs face today. It automates the provisioning and de-provisioning of channel and sub-accounts within WACM, reducing manual administrative effort and minimizing errors.

The integration eliminates duplicate data entry and manual reconciliation, reducing the risk of billing errors and improving operational accuracy.

Operationally, MSPs no longer need to switch between multiple systems. Once enabled, they can manage and monitor provisioned accounts directly within ConnectWise PSA. From a compliance and audit perspective, the integration also simplifies tracking and reporting of account access and changes.

How does this integration change the day-to-day experience for MSP teams?

The integration creates a much more streamlined operational experience for MSP teams. Instead of managing scattered information across multiple platforms, MSPs gain centralized visibility into account access, usage, billing, and provisioning.

Automated onboarding removes the need for manual account creation and synchronization between WACM and ConnectWise PSA. Invoice generation becomes more accurate because billing is tied directly to actual storage consumption data from WACM.

The mapping between WACM account IDs and ConnectWise entities also simplifies troubleshooting for support teams. Overall, the integration reduces operational friction, eliminates unnecessary back-and-forth between systems and documentation, and enables MSPs to scale onboarding processes more efficiently and proactively.

What are the biggest benefits MSP partners can expect?

MSP partners can expect several meaningful benefits. Accounts are accurately tied to the correct partner or customer, which improves visibility and operational control.

The integration ensures agreements reflect real storage consumption, significantly reducing the time spent reconciling usage against invoices. It also eliminates risks associated with shared or loosely managed credentials and enables MSPs to provision accounts at scale.

Additionally, better forecasting capabilities allow MSPs to more accurately predict storage usage and profitability. Transparent and accurate billing ultimately strengthens customer trust and confidence.

How does this fit into Wasabi's broader strategy for supporting MSPs?

This integration aligns closely with Wasabi's broader MSP strategy by making it easier for providers to package and deliver affordable cloud storage services directly through their existing operational platforms.

Rather than forcing MSPs to adapt to Wasabi workflows, Wasabi adapts to the MSP's operational hub within ConnectWise PSA. That makes Wasabi a more integrated part of the MSP's core business systems rather than simply another vendor relationship.”

The solution reflects our commitment to investing in MSP-preferred workflows, tools, and automation capabilities that simplify operations and support long-term scalability.

What should MSPs do next if they're interested in the integration?

The first step is for MSPs to evaluate how the integration fits within their current operational and billing workflows, and compare their existing storage costs against Wasabi's offering if they are not already using Wasabi storage.

From there, they can engage directly with Wasabi, a distributor, or a partner to learn more about WACM. We also encourage MSPs to review the relevant knowledge base resources in Wasabi Academy, watch a demo, run a proof of concept, and provide internal team training to ensure a successful rollout.

WACM is Wasabi's centralized platform for managing cloud storage accounts across multiple customers. For MSPs, it provides the account-level controls needed to provision, monitor, and manage storage at scale. It's the layer that connects directly to ConnectWise PSA through this integration.

No. Once the integration is enabled, MSPs can provision and de-provision Wasabi storage accounts, monitor usage, and align billing data without leaving ConnectWise PSA. The goal is to make Wasabi part of the MSP's existing workflow, not an additional platform to manage separately.

Billing in ConnectWise PSA is tied directly to actual storage consumption data pulled from WACM. This eliminates the manual reconciliation process that typically causes invoice errors and reduces the time MSP billing teams spend verifying usage against agreements.

Yes. MSPs evaluating Wasabi for the first time can use the ConnectWise integration as a starting point, comparing their current storage costs against Wasabi's pricing while assessing how the integration fits their existing operational workflows. Wasabi's team and channel partners are available to support initial setup, proof-of-concept testing, and team training.

Wasabi provides integration documentation and setup guidance through Wasabi Academy. MSPs can also request a demo, engage with a Wasabi partner or distributor, and access the solution brief at the ConnectWise integration page: wasabi.com/partner/integrations/connectwise.
