Wasabi Technologies recently appointed Pinaki Mukherjee as GM/SVP of its AI business to lead AI strategy and go-to-market. This puts him at the center of one of the industry's most consequential shifts, as inference workloads move to the forefront and cloud storage economics become pivotal to the cost of AI tokens.
Pinaki has built his career at the intersection of data center infrastructure, growth strategy, and M&A, the key drivers now underpinning the AI boom. Before joining Wasabi, he was part of the Technology Leadership team at Alvarez & Marsal, advising private equity and corporate clients and executing more than $10 billion in M&A transactions and investments across data center infrastructure, semiconductors, and cybersecurity.
Earlier in his career, Pinaki held corporate development leadership roles at Western Digital, where he structured the Intel partnership that generated over $2 billion in revenue, and at Fungible, a DPU company, where he built go-to-market partnerships with VMware and Microsoft ahead of Fungible's acquisition by Microsoft in 2023. As an early leader of the WD Venture Fund, he has also invested in and advised numerous companies across the cloud and data infrastructure stack.
Pinaki holds a degree in mechanical engineering and an MBA in strategy and finance from UC Berkeley's Haas School of Business.
