From December 6-8, 2021 the women of Wasabi’s channel took New York City by storm at The Channel Company's Women of the Channel East Leadership Conference (WOTC).The Wasabi Partner Network has grown significantly in 2021, now boasting over 9,000 channel partners globally!  Continued empowerment and investment in our women leaders is something Wasabi believes in and the networking as well as professional development offered at this event will help these women both further their careers as well as drive even more channel growth in the coming years.

WOTC’s purpose is to connect women from a variety of tech companies in the channel to meet together to learn, empower and cultivate the next generation of women leaders. Through keynotes, breakout sessions, and networking, our team of powerful Wasabi females left more knowledgeable and ready to take on any challenge the channel faces us with.

With impactful speakers such as Ally Love, Erin Brockovich, and Nikki Stone, there were so many memorable moments from this event. Here are some of our team’s personal favorite highlights:

Laurie Mitchell, VP of Partner and International Marketing: My favorite moment was seeing one of my favorite Peloton instructors, Ally Love in person. Her positive energy and presence filled the room! But my true favorite was the overall event – having our team together in person for the first time in a very long time and spending quality time together both as a team as well as with some of our best partners.

Isabel Freedman, Partner Marketing Coordinator: My favorite moment was listening to Wendy Taccetta, Senior Vice President, Small Business and Channel Chief, Verizon, discuss being a “unicorn” in the tech industry. Wendy emphasized how she doesn’t believe in imposter syndrome because rather than thinking our differences make us not belong, we should believe our differences make us special and deserving of our spot.

Anna Reardon, National Partner Manager: My favorite moment was seeing and hearing the common reactions from the audience IN PERSON! To hear an inspiring message from Ally Love or Wendy Taccetta and look around to women peers smiling or speaking out in agreement to topics we don’t address on a day to day basis was inspiring.

Madison McDaniel, Partner Marketing Manager: My favorite part of the conference was getting to meet so many women in leadership positions across the tech industry. In particular, I loved chatting with the Veeam team and brainstorming all of the goodness we can bring to the channel in the coming year!

At Wasabi, we are proud to have a strong group of women leading our channel team. During this event, Wasabi’s women of the channel were able to collaborate and focus on where we see our individual future paths as well as Wasabi’s. It is a great feeling to be surrounded by such intelligent, innovative women here.

It was also a pleasure to network with the women of our partner companies. A highlight was definitely the dinner we hosted with our top Technology Alliance Partner, Veeam. To be in a smaller setting and get to collaborate on ideas for 2022 and to finally meet in-person was a joy. We were also able to meet peers from several other Technology Alliance Partners such as Veritas and Pure Storage, as well as our Channel Partners like Climb, CDW, and Insight. We are always eager to connect with partners like this to expand and build closer relationships.

We are so grateful to Wasabi for letting us attend this event for the first time as a company and we are excited to attend again in the future! Our Wasabi team is growing! If you’re interested in joining our amazing group of women and team beyond, check out our Careers Page for open positions.
