Affordable, secure, and scalable cloud storage for video surveillance deployments at the Edge

Rasilient Systems technology makes it possible to use video surveillance not only for security and safety, but for a variety of uses to cost-effectively monitor operations for business optimization and process improvement. Organizations need a surveillance solution that is dependable, can be used in remote areas, and can cover multiple sites. These modern systems now include new, intelligent video surveillance cameras and analytical applications that are capturing more evidence and anomalies than ever before. This is causing an increase in storage capacity and demand for additional secure and scalable storage systems. Due to the remote and mobile nature of these sites, building out storage systems capable of managing petabytes (PB) of data is unrealistic.

Moving and archiving infrequently accessed video to an offsite, secure, and reliable storage environment is the only way to keep up with the demand of video being generated at the edge. Unfortunately, this is difficult if not impossible for remote locations due to limited bandwidth and connectivity to send video files without the risk of frame drop and data corruption.

Rasilient Systems combined with Wasabi hot cloud storage provides a surveillance and security solution with unlimited scalability at a disruptively low cost so businesses can address the rising amount of video being captured at areas previously deemed “unserviceable.” Wasabi hot cloud storage offers Rasilient Systems customers a highly scalable repository for video management software (VMS) that support high camera counts, high-definition resolutions, high frame rates, and long retention periods. The architecture is designed to provide high reliability and availability to meet the demands of video surveillance deployments.

Seamlessly expand existing systems to a hybrid-cloud approach

A unique capability of Rasilient Systems surveillance solution is their patent-pending NFDLink communication software. The NFDLink technology enables the use of commonly available broadband wired or wireless services to send and receive forensic-grade video recordings directly to the Wasabi cloud. NFDLink ensures reliable transmission utilizing minimal broadband requirements, allowing for video recording transmission with no quality degradation. NFDLink throttles and manages the bandwidth while not compressing or reducing the image quality. With the transmission technology of NFDLink, the amount of recordings that you can store is not limited to the size of the on-premises recording database.

All Rasilient hardware comes pre-loaded with the end-users’ preferred VMS. With extensive compatibility to VMS in the market, the use of NFDLink makes it easy for an organization to archive infrequently accessed video to Wasabi from any VMS, while keeping frequently accessed video on-site. Industries that operate multiple locations like healthcare, government, education, and enterprise retail may have a blend of software at different sites, oftentimes not having one standard VMS across all locations. The NFDLink software sits on the server at the customer site running whatever VMS the customer prefers. NFDLink is what is actually sending the objects to Wasabi cloud, actively managing the transmission and connectivity, routing the video off site as objects around the customers network traffic.

How it works

Wasabi Hot Cloud Storage Delivers Breakthrough Economics and Performance

Wasabi is the hot cloud storage company delivering low-cost, fast and reliable cloud storage on-demand. Wasabi’s solution is 80% less expensive and is faster than first-generation cloud vendors. Wasabi hot cloud storage is designed with eleven nines (99.999999999%) of object durability and immutability that guarantees stored objects cannot be deleted or modified by anyone. Not only is Wasabi 80% less expensive to store video recordings than traditional cloud providers, but there are also no fees for egress or API requests. Wasabi keeps all files “hot” so they can be accessed in milliseconds. All Rasilient and Wasabi customers can treat their video files as hot, so they can shorten upload windows and quickly access their video files for faster retrieval times.

Safe, Secure, and Tamper-Proof

On top of the 256-bit encryption and TLS 1.2 included for all transmission, Rasilient incorporates an additional layer of encryption with their security feature known as PrivateLok. PrivateLok runs on top of the NFDLink software at the edge and provides a zero-knowledge encryption, with each remote site having its own unique encryption keys. Video can only be decrypted by a key holder at the edge, and only a user has access to their key.

Wasabi is deployed in fully secure and redundant data centers that are certified for SOC-2 and ISO 27001 compliance. The service is architected in accordance with industry-best security models and design practices. Organizations can configure their individual video files or storage buckets to be immutable for a user defined retention period (in increments of days, weeks, months or years). Designated video files or files written to that bucket cannot be deleted or altered in any way, by anyone, throughout its storage lifetime. Immutability can help with compliance for state and local government regulations.
