If the NAB Show is “where content comes to life,” Wasabi hot cloud storage is the place where you can finally afford to store it all. The annual event, organized by the National Association of Broadcasters, is the media and entertainment industry’s largest conference for executives, directors, producers, editors, and other creatives to share the latest innovations in filmed entertainment and multimedia content from development to delivery.

The Wasabi team is thrilled to be exhibiting this year alongside so many of our extraordinary partners that are building incredible new tools on top of our hot cloud storage platform.

In this short post, I’d like to share the newest solutions from two of our most recent partners: Marquis Broadcast and FileCatalyst.

If you happen to be attending NAB Show in Las Vegas this year, stop by and see us. We’re at booth #SL15216.

Recover in-progress Avid ISIS/NEXIS work while you’re still in production!

Conventional disaster recovery tools can only copy the raw Avid NEXIS native media data to the backup. Since this data is illegible outside of NEXIS, the entire NEXIS must be recovered before a single project can be accessed. That could take weeks! To complicate matters, with standard IT backup tools, there’s always a risk of missing project media in the recovery.

Marquis Workspace Backup from Marquis Broadcast is designed from the ground up to efficiently protect Avid NEXIS work in progress. The solution uses advanced analytics to examine workspace content and understands relationships and interdependencies between workspaces, projects, bins, and media. This ensures that all media associated with a protected project are written to the backup, even if the project’s referenced media is in an unprotected workspace.

The product provides robust protection against unintentional project, bin or media file deletions. Incremental backups provide granular and fast updates while minimizing storage consumption. An easy-to-use interface and “set-and-forget” backup policies simplify configuration and ongoing administration.

The Marquis Broadcast and Wasabi integration solution lets users back up business-critical Avid workspaces to the cloud. Together, we offer the highest level of protection and the fastest recovery to production all at a business-transforming price point.

Reduce large file transfer times to minutes or even seconds

Legacy file transfer protocols and tools are no longer effective in the era of big data and cloud computing. Traditional connection-oriented protocols like FTP squander bandwidth (each packet is individually transmitted and acknowledged) and are susceptible to network latency and packet loss.

Using FTP, it can take hours or even days to transfer multi-gigabyte files.

FileCatalyst, an Emmy® award-winning pioneer in managed file transfers leverages a patented connectionless file transfer technology that avoids protocol overhead while ensuring reliable and secure delivery. Immune to latency and packet loss, FileCatalyst transfers files at speeds of up to 10 Gbps, reducing transfer times down to minutes, or even seconds, for the largest of data sets.

Based on a client-server architecture, FileCatalyst supports a variety of client interfaces, including Wasabi’s S3 API, desktop user interfaces, browser-based interfaces with REST APIs, a scriptable CLI, and an SDK for integration with third-party applications.

Hello, we’re Wasabi

If you haven’t yet heard of Wasabi, we’re the inventors of hot cloud storage, an exponentially cheaper, faster, simpler, and more reliable way to store massive data sets in the cloud.
